Healthy Habits
The single most important thing we can do to improve our nutrition is to change our perspective on food.

A little food for thought:

Where restrictive diets fall short:
-
They are unsustainable - Finding 'success' on any restrictive diet can only be sustained if you are quite literally on the diet until you die because as soon as you are off of it, weight can come back and health problems reappear if you haven't fundamentally changed your habits and relationship with food.
-
Difficult to commit to - Restrictive diets can be incredibly difficult to adhere to; as our natural rebellion kicks in when we feel like we can't have something it is suddenly the only thing we want.
-
Can lower our self esteem - They make us feel bad about ourselves when we slip up, often leading to quitting the diet altogether, creating feelings of frustration and failure that negatively affect our mental well-being.
-
Don't support proper Health and Nutrition - Finally they further deteriorate our relationship with food by putting value judgements on certain macronutrients (carbohydrates/proteins/fats) or micronutrients (vitamins/minerals), promoting them as good or bad, when our body really needs all of them in moderation to stay healthy and perform optimally.
